Can you be really sure? If you depend on a wireless network to support your critical business operations, you’d like know for sure that the coverage and the performance will be there. Intermec WLAN Site Certification service will test to see if any previous site survey results are accurate and still viable. If a previous site survey was performed by a non-Intermec vendor, were those results guaranteed? If not, or if you have any reason to doubt those results, consider engaging the Intermec Professional Services team to perform the WLAN Site Certification process.

No site survey performed, but your network is up and running? Are you sure it is providing coverage to the degree your data supply chain requires? The Intermec WLAN Site Certification process will let you know for sure.

Ensure Adequate Coverage

Just because a wireless infrastructure has been set up and seems to be performing adequately in support of one application, or in one location, doesn’t mean that the infrastructure is automatically scalable and can accommodate new requirements. If an existing WLAN has been expanded, or re-purposed, without a new site survey having been performed, it is recommended that the installation be certified in order to demonstrate whether coverage is adequate to support new applications. A WLAN set up originally to accommodate a manufacturing application is probably not portable enough to support even a carpeted office environment. And certainly the portability of a relatively light-duty network to any application that requires the movement of very large chunks of data, such as high-resolution graphics transmittal, is doubtful, and should only be confirmed by professionals.
