By mounting RFID read/write capability on forklifts, end-users are able to reduce the data processing dependencies and expense associated with the purchase and installation of permanent reader portals at dock doors and other choke points. Although Intermec is introducing forklift backload rest and other “kits” with RFID reader and antenna components built in, there is a very large population of forklifts currently in service that cannot become mobile RFID contact points without extensive retro-fitting. Intermec Forklift Installation services bring more than twenty year’s experience installing fix-mount devices on vehicles to this application.

RFID devices, no matter where they are installed, require meticulous care in dealing with the potential problems that radio frequency interference can represent. Intermec installers have been dealing with radio frequency-related installations since the advent of wireless network technology. Using the services of professional installers to install RFID and more traditional data collection devices on forklifts helps maintain consistency – especially if the forklifts to be retro-fitted are maintained in multiple locations. If Intermec Vehicle Installation services are part of an RFID technology rollout, and the project engages Process Analysis, Site Analysis and Site Installation, all performed by or authorized by Intermec Global Services, then the RFID technology of the entire system, including devices installed on forklifts would qualify for Intermec’s 18-month Performance Guarantee. In addition to RFID technology, Intermec installers are expert at fix-mounting more traditional data collection devices.

  • We not only design and manufacture RFID devices, we also provide the essential consulting, technical and selected software services to make it all work effectively
  • We offer a written, eighteen-month guarantee for systems performance. That’s right, when the three post-business case RFIDeploySM services: Process Analysis, Site Analysis and Site Installation are performed or authorized by Intermec Global Services, the performance of the customer’s RFID technology system is guaranteed to meet or exceed the criteria for success as established during the implementation process, for 18 months after system go-live.
