Service Overview
If you have not heard of DEX/UCS before it refers to the industry standards used by retailers and consumer goods suppliers for passing data electronically within a retail store during the delivery/receiving process. The Direct EXchange/Uniform Communication Standard (DEX/UCS) standard was established and is maintained by the Uniform Code Council, Inc. (UCC). It has been a standard for North American retailers and consumer goods suppliers doing Direct Store Delivery (DSD) since the 1980’s. Intermec has been a leading member of the DEX/UCS standards development effort since its inception. Intermec also has been the leading provider of DEX/UCS developer libraries and DEX/UCS enabled application software programs.
The UCC has declared that by January 1, 2005 all US and Canadian companies must be capable of processing EAN-8, 12–digit UPC’s, EAN-13, and 14-digit GTIN’s at point of sale. This requires a new DEX version 005010UCS.
Intermec’s Global Software Services team provides DEX Consulting and Programming services to assist our North American Direct Store Delivery (DSD) customers implement this standard in their direct store delivery applications.
