In June of 2006, Intermec announced, via press release its support of Microsoft BizTalk RFID. BizTalk RFID will enable Intermec’s RFID hardware to become fully compatible with the Microsoft platform and integrate with third-party applications and processes. Intermec’s compatibility and support of the BizTalk solution on its RFID hardware gives Intermec customers even more flexibility and choice of RFID middleware when deploying Intermec hardware.
What is Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2?
Microsoft BizTalk Server 2006 R2 includes 23 application and technology adapters in the box for connecting to legacy systems (mainframe and mid-range) and line-of-business applications (SAP, Siebel, PeopleSoft, Oracle, and JD Edwards). The core benefits include simpler setup, comprehensive management and deployment capabilities, seamless upgrading, richer business user and developer experiences, and faster application integration. What is Microsoft BizTalk RFID?
Previously referred to as the Microsoft RFID Infrastructure, BizTalk RFID can be viewed as Microsoft middleware that enables enterprise application integration on the Microsoft platform. It provides a uniform way to discover, communicate and manage RFID devices on the Microsoft Windows platform. BizTalk RFID includes the building blocks that developers need to build successful, plug and play vertical applications.
Which Intermec products are involved?
Intermec’s entire line of RFID hardware (including fixed readers, vehicle mounted readers, portable readers and printers) are expected to support BizTalk RFID when the product is officially launched.
